The name of this Surah is derived from word “Al Balad” mentioned in verse 1, meaning “The City” appears. Surah Al Balad is “Meccan Surah” . In the Surah , total are 20 verses & 1 Ruku. The name of this Surah is derived from word “Al Balad” mentioned in verse 1, meaning “The City” appears. This Surah was revealed in Mecca most probably in a middle period of the Prophet Muhammad’s preaching in Mecca when persecution had already started. This Surah begins with an Oath of two things i.e. the city and the begetter and that which be begot. In this surah Allah swears by the city of Makkah and swears a father(Hazrat Adam) and his child. It tells about the hardships of humankind and facts about the world. This is the place where everyone is being tested. We gave you two paths and this is your choice whatever path you have been following. whoever followed the path of believers will enjoy paradise and whoever disbelieved the god’s signs will proceed towards the hellfire.
